How to Enter
RSVP on this page to be emailed the official entry form. Submit your creative poster, poem, video or essay along with your signed official entry form by email to WriteOnGuam@guamwm.com. Contest is open to children in K-12 who live on Guam. All entries must be received by September 30, 2020 no later than 11:59 PM.
When will the stories be judged, and how are they judged? Stories will be judged during the first week of September. They are judged on the quality of the art, the quality of the writing, and how well the art and the writing work together. For those submitting a video instead of the written word, it will be judged on the story and the entertainment value of the video.
**Some things that make a story special include bright, colorful art; a unique story; a story with a good beginning, middle, and end; illustrations that match the story; attention to details; and following the contest rules!**
All the stories submitted to Guam Windward Memorial are read by the staff. Outstanding stories at each grade level are chosen for judging by a panel of judges made up of local teachers, librarians, authors, artists, journalists, and radio personalities. This panel selects a first and second place winner at each level. The remaining stories selected for judging are awarded an honorable mention.
How will I know if my story won? First and Second Place winners and honorable mention winners are notified by phone or email following judging.
